Countdown

In mid-2021, Descript decided they wanted a new countdown video for their webinars. Livestreams were becoming more and more prominent, and the ol’ “We’ll be starting in 5…4…3..2…” just wasn’t cutting it anymore.

The Descript team provided me with the already-produced audio file, and some thoughts on images to juxtapose with the voiceover. So much of Descript’s sense of humor was embedded in there.

But I knew I could enhance the jokes with the visuals and editing. Comedy is, after all, all about timing. And what is editing, but a direct application of timing to elicit a desired response?
